The most recent data (2011) shows that immigrants comprised 20.6% of Canada’s population; in other words, one in five people were immigrants.


The number of immigrants from El Salvador increased 13.5% from 38,460 in 2001 to 43,655 in 2011.

In 2011, 45% of Salvadoran immigrants resided in Ontario. In fact, the Greater Toronto Area was home to 10,295 Salvadorans.

In 2011, 22.5% of Salvadoran immigrants resided in Quebec, 12.9% in British Columbia, and 12.7% in Alberta.
